I was born in Northern California, the oldest of four children, but moved at a very young age to Mexico where I completed Elementary and High School. At the end of my High School years in Mexico, I returned to the United States to get a college education. I put myself through college and it was there where I met my husband of 18 years now. My hobbies include hiking, fishing, cooking, gardening, the SF Giants, and traveling with my family.
After Graduation from College, I moved out of the Bay Area to Dixon where I have lived for 20 years. My husband and I have two handsome sons; Marco a Junior and Samuel an eighth grader.
I received my Bachelors Degree at Menlo College in Business Administration. After a 10 year business career, my children inspired me to become more involved in both the community and their education. I began to volunteer on a weekly basis in Marco’s Kindergarten/First Grade class (the first year of operation at DMCS) which soon became daily and then I became highly interested in not only my own children’s education but those of all the children in the class! From that experience I became a Teaching Assistant and earned my Montessori Teaching Credential in Early Childhood Education at the Montessori Institute of Advanced Studies in Castro Valley, Ca. From there, I received my California Teaching Credential through Calstate Teach at California State University Monterey Bay. I am also a member of AMS (American Montessori Society).
I have now been teaching for 8 years and can’t think of a more wonderful career! I have the opportunity to couple the stringent California State Standards through Common Core Curriculum with the beautiful learning method that Maria Montessori brought to the world through her faith and belief that all Children have the opportunity to meet their potential in this world. Thank you for having your Child at this wonderful School!
Sincerely,
Ms. Patty

My name is Cindy Hernández and this is my second year working at Dixon Montessori. I grew up in Jalisco, Mexico and moved back to California thirteen years ago. I received my B.A. in Spanish and my M.A. in Latin American Literature from UC Davis. At UCD I taught elementary level Spanish to undergraduate students for two years.
I live in Davis with my boyfriend Tommaso, a postdoc neuroscientist. We met while dancing salsa four years ago, he was really bad at it so I decided to teach him…and well… the rest is now history. We love to cook, read, have picnics, and most importantly, travel! Our goal is to travel to a foreign country at least once a year; our latest trip was to the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico.
My new adventure at Dixon Montessori came like a breath of fresh air. I have always believed in the importance of education and to be here, contributing to the education of children, makes me love every single second of my job.
